It was a king brown snake. Am pretty sure we interupted a mating pair. Never happy about that. But i have people I am responsible for.... and their safety is very important. We tried waiting for it to go away, one did, the other just stayed in the grass and would have bitten one of them. 
We get lots of snakes here and we only kill them if they are in the camp, which does not happen often...
