So, managed to keep myself from going out last night. Woo-hoo! It helped that the drinking friends at work were pissed at me. Last week I went with one of the new staffers, Akira, to this standing bar (tachinomiya) near our school where all drinks and food are 300. Anyway, he made the mistake of confessing to me that he'd never tried whiskey. You can imagine my reaction.
Now, this place happened to have Old Crow and Jim, so we got a soda of those each, plus a dewers soda so he could try scotch. On top of two or three Yebisus--the best Japanese beer btw--we were rockin' pretty hard by the time 11 pm rolled around and he had to go home.
As he'd said he's never had a hangover before, which was hard to believe as he spent a year in Australia,I told him to drink some sports drink in the morning. He didn't, and so the next day at work, he told his and my boss that he felt "the worst ever." Sigh, if only he'd listened.
Tonight, however, my mate Aaron from Vancouver and I are gona hit the town. Expect lotsa journals and such. I know we're going to Namba, but damned if I know where.
Funny thing is about living here, you befriend people you'd never back home. Aaron, for example, is totally into the hiphop style, whereas I go for the postpunk hipster look. Came over here on a tourist visa, got work and a ton of girlfriends, received his Bangkok diploma, visa runned to Korea, and is now a "legit" English teacher. He's fuckin' hilarious and good with the ladies, so this should be fun.
Anyway, was up til 7 in the morning in chat. Met some excellent folks...shit I spend more time on my journal, the groups, and chat than I ever do on the pics. What's wrong with me?
btw please welcome our friend, Squeagle. He'll be helping out around here for a bit.

But shit is it tasty.
I know what you mean about the friends you'd never make at home. . .i think all my friends here fit that marker.
But Aaron sounds like coolness.
