K, so the whole Okinawan party thing. Fumi's taking a hula dance class and she was performing with her group before the concert. You'll see the pics. Anyway, this grizzled guy comes up to the stage after downing a few Orions (Okinawan beer) and just blows the room away. I wish I could post some of the video I took, but you'll just have to be content with pics.

After that, we went out on the town in Kyoto. Aside from some spatting that always happens when Fumi, me, and alcohol get together, I thought it wasn't such a bad night. She, however, disagreed, which is how yesterday started. We talked though, and everything was hunky-dory til about 7 when

the building

starts

shaking.

Being from FL, earthquakes are the one truly unpleasant thing I've had to reconcile myself with in Japan. Still scared shitless of 'em, actually. It was a pretty long one, and one of the more forceful I've felt here. Made the news pretty quick, and Mnemsis even texted me to see if everything was alright (thanx btw.)

Anyway, after all that excitement died down, we settled in for a night with the tube. TV that is (you naughty, naughty people.) Thought all was okay til the building

started shaking

again.

And longer this time. I'll never forget the first real quake I felt here. I had a horrible cold, it was January of my first year here, just three months in, and I'm teaching a rather uninspiring lesson at Nova one dreary day. The class is swaying and I just remember thinking, "don't let me fucking die here now. That would really suck."

But anyway, just enjoying my last full day of vacation. Gotta teach bright and early tomorrow! Joy joy joy! tongue
