i suppose it's time for a proper update...
we're still alive. mostly working. every once in a while we make it out of the house
highlights of the past couple of weeks:
the wife had a little emergency a couple of weeks ago. to get the full scoop go here. she had me scared there for a bit but i nursed her back to health and now she's (mostly) ok 
my car had (as the mechanic put it) a heart attack. the head gasket blew
the repair was quoted at $2500 
i don't have $2500 so it appears i'll be a pedestrian for a while. at least i'll get more exercise by walking around everywhere and meet new and interesting people in the bus/train. 
my little sister-in-law is coming to visit soon. i'm kinda excited. i love playing tour guide. having only 1 car should make this interesting though
and last but not least, right now, at this very moment, i'm thirsty. so if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go grab a cup of water

fun times, i'm a pedestrian and you get used to it. i'd say invest in games on cell phone/psp/gameboy or a novel of some sort. glad to hear the wife is doing better.
