Its all a matter of opinion. Some people love the army, some absolutely hate it. I started out loving the army, but grew to hate it. I dont have any regrets about joining, I'm just glad its over. Yeah, I did spend time in Iraq. My first deployment was a year, second deployment was 15 months. Anyways, I try to stay neutral about it, if I know somebody is joining, I dont try to tell them what to do one way or the other. Theres good and bad, but in the end its up to you. And its all really what you make of it.

Crackheads are wild. I used to deal with them at a trashy job I had once, bartending in a real "questionable" area.

I like the band well enough, but that particular song is just a few magnitudes above their usual fare, i've been fucking enamored of it since the first time I saw it. Brilliantly twisted.

The army has really lowered their standards on tattoos. As long as they arent racist or gang related, and as long as you dont have any on your hands and neck, you should be fine. And basic training is a breeze. I mean, its intense and all, but you get used to the routine pretty quickly.

The only thing I'd have to say about you joining the army is that its a young man's game. Just realize that if you do join, you're going to have kids that are 20 and 21 yrs old who out-rank you and are telling you what to do. Its a pride thing, I know a lot of guys have a problem with it. I joined when I was 18, but I saw plenty of guys who were in their 30s and they were having a hard time taking orders from somebody that was 10 yrs younger than them.

Yeah, they generally do that. If you have a 4 yr degree they'll generally give you Specialist rank, if you have less than a 4 yr degree I think the most you'd get is Private First Class. Your age probably wont be a big deal in the national guard. But on active duty it is kind of a big deal. I made Sergeant when I was 21, and was made a team leader. I had a private who was 32, and he couldnt stand that he had such a young team leader.
