Godel, Escher and Bach I have been needing to read that. I have read the Minds I By Hofstadter and Danial Dennet over and over. Mind blowing. Its the type of book you have to take in small sips to make sure you dont pass over any of the logic. I hear Godel, Escher and Bach has the same effect.

Have you ever been to Ctheory.com? It has some good articles on contemporary theory. Some of those are based on Cognition, Quantum Physics, etc
