Ive been meaning to stop in and do some writing here since, well, since the day after I made my last post, but Ive been too busy watching paint dry.
Im currently in talks with the fine gentlemen in Fashion Bomb to work with them on an upcoming project. Cant say too much for the details at the moment, but check out their website for some groovin tunage (links will open in a new window) and stay tuned for some rockin updates on that front. Theyll be playing a show at the Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago this Saturday night. Ill be there, so should you.
Also for those of you who live in or around the city (or would like to take a road trip) Ill soon have work on display at The Bad Apple on Lincoln near Montrose! Its a great restaurant/bar which was just renovated and looks killer, and of course will look even better once my paintings are hanging within its walls. It is very likely that I will become a regular customer as this place is about three blocks from my cozy downtown home. Once things are finalized and my work is hanging, I will put together an official opening party, so keep coming back for the details on that.
Finally, Ive been re-working a massive mural in a (gorgeous!) Michigan Avenue condo sunroom. The floor to twelve-foot-ceilings on every inch of the four walls are covered with a drab, depressing nature motif. I have been hired (along with Tony and Jerry) to touch it up and transform it into something bright, cheerful, and beautiful. The major problem is that the fundamental composition and coloring of the original design utterly sucks, not to mention the total lack of consistent perspective. The minor problem is that 99% of the details (flowers and animals and whatnot) were so poorly rendered that they are complete do-overs. So essentially, we are keeping only the largest structural elements of the current painting (which still all need to be painted over and brought to life) and completely re-creating everything else. Very challenging, but were cranking through it quickly and things are turning out quite well. Even though its not mine, its a great chance to level up my large-scale speedpainting skills.
