So, we had a big windstorm here on Thursday, and my power got knocked out. Rather surprising, since I live in the heart of an urban center - you don't really expect that - but there it is. We don't have much in the way of serious weather in the Seattle area, so it really caught us off guard.

Over 150,000 people within city limits lost their electricity. That's supposed to be down to about 5,000 by midnight tonight. Over in the burbs, though, the situation remains bad. Nearly a quarter million people still don't have power.

Even with that, the major cold snap that hit us right after the windstorm is still the Seattle version of a major cold snap. Temperatures have been hovering between thirty and forty. Still, it hasn't been pleasant for a lot of people (waste no sympathy on me, by the way - I was inconvenienced but scarcely suffered at all after the first night; I stayed with family, with a complimentary cat), and there have been a few deaths, including one woman who drowned in her own basement, and a man who died of carbon monoxide poisoning after having brought his charcoal grill inside.

Anyway. My own electricity is back up now. Oddly enough I still have internet access (even though I can see the cables dangling outside my window). But if you've been wondering where I've been for the past few days, that was it.

Promises, promises. Last time you were so drunk you couldn't even figure out which end of the scissors to hold. How much longer can this farce go on?

i dunno, though. whenever he told me to go occupy myself with something shiny, he just totally blew my stance apart. i ended the night crying into a bottle of jameson and wondering why i was so completely stupid.
