today, a rant. the store i work in has changed managers 3 times in a year, most recently last week. the old manager, who, though a nice guy, is an inept fool, screwed up the money so badly he got bounced to assistant and transfered to the mall. So, it's generally known, the man's hanging on to his last chance by a knuckle.
Enter an friend who went to the mall from my store for more hours. during the launch of the xbox 360, my friend walks into work, moves to start helping the mad line of consumers, when up walks a young guy for his 360. Kid says, "but, i lost my receipt, can't you use my name?" before my friend can answer, the nice but clueless manager rolls into the conversation with, "it's ok, i talked to him on the phone".
so, the guy pays the $200 odd cash left to pay on the system, goes home with the goods. Problem is, the real mister X walks in 20 mins later.
after a call to the district manager, my friend is told to make good on the cash the customer lost out of his own pocket, right now, (around $278) and get him a system from the bottom on the list's reserve, and then to call the bottom reserve and explain why his system isn't there.
the district manager is Not told about the manager's involvment. because the other assistent manager knows the weasel will get canned, and then the store will be screwed for management staff over the season.
knowing all this, the monkeys watch as my friend pays out his own cash. they don't offer a dime. they don't even say, Sorry man.
