Backbeats and Summer Movies
...also semester is wrapping up

Hey Everyone -

Yeah two updates in one day... I am totally avoiding doing my final essays for class. So while flipping through some recent film poster designs I stumbled upon this and thought that it might be promising:



...UNTIL I checked the website and saw the shit stream of a cast they have:



WOW, potential just went down the drain, I'm afraid that films like this are gonna be the end of our comic book/graphic novel explosion in the film industry. I mean for some extremely ODD reason anything can happen and it could be really good (I was wrong about the Saving Private Ryan poster (my opinion of it has changed 100 fold now) and my friends will never let me live it down).

But.... movies I am looking forward to seeing more info on are:

I Am Legend
Akiva Goldsman wrote the screenplay and the novel is suppose to be fantastic... it DOES have Will Smith in the lead though so I am not expecting anything greater than what iRobot turned out to be.

30 Days of Night
Odette filled me in on this one based off of some graphic novels she recieved... this film looks promising by the people involved in it (Sam Raimi producing) and the story is phenominal.

And lastly

Iron Man
John Favreau is directing and Robert Downey Jr. is playing Tony Stark/Iron Man. This has major potential too or it could end up as another comic fodder movie on the Marvel train. We will see but I am looking forward to this one no matter what.

Brick is a must see if you have any interest in film noir... even if not it just an amazing film and funny at times. This poster is only one in a series (seen here) that are beautifuly done.


Hard Candy was also a great movie that is definetly worth renting. But even beyond that the poster designs were phenominally done. The poster seen here isn't actually the main release as anyone who has seen the original design knows (main poster seen here) but this one is very original and masterfully done with its use of the credit text and placement. Whoever they had on their team of designers here had some genious ideas that were incredibly executed.



OK, thats pretty much all from me again for now... well one LAST thing...

This song has a fucking amazing backbeat in the chorus. I know its Rihanna but still the song is great.
