REPRESENTIN'
Time to change the tone up a bit.
So i was flipping through some of my homework this week when I overheard something interesting pop onto the TV that caught my attention. I guess AskMen.com did a little survey on the 49 "best representatives" for the male gender and surprisingly enough two of my favorite people popped up in the first and second slot, both of which I fully admire and respect for what they do in such unique and seperate ways; George Clooney and Jay-Z. Now George topped out at number 1 and for good reason. I love how down to earth this guy is and how much he is willing to fight the paparazi on everything shitty that they do. Plus the dude can make fun of the fact that he was a shitty Batman (which he'll never live down), and if you can laugh at yourself then you really got your head on your shoulders. And then you have Jay-Z, which is great to see put on a list as an influencial male role model, being that he is mainly known as a hip-hop artist. The best part about Jay-Z, to me is that he makes sure he has his hand in everything from stocks to records to clothing lines to sports arenas. He always has his money working for him and seems to know how to balance himself wisely. That and he breaks stereotypes left and right and collaberates with all kinds of artists, etc. Anyways just a little interesting shout out about these two as well as 47 other men (whom I haven't taken the time to look all the way through).
And to end like I always do here is a great video from Jay-Z (sweet production from Rick Rubin). The music video premiered in April 2004 and was directed by Mark Romanek (an incredible director). It has been critically acclaimed, and was nominated for four MVPA (Music Video Production Association) awards in 2005, of which it won three. It also won the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Rap Video, Best Director, Best Editing and Best Cinematography, as well as gaining nominations for Video of the Year and Best Male Video. Romanek's other music video's include Nine Inch Nail's "Closer", "Are You Gonna Go My Way" Lenny Kravitz, "Speed of Sound" Coldplay, as well as many many others.
Oh and you always got to love a cameo by Vincent Gallo. What a scary looking dude lol. Yeah some of you probably hate rap; well then don't watch it and don't bitch.
Ahhh.... love Jay-Z. Such a fuckin' phat ass sample beat from an old Billy Squier song... and you can thank Ice-T for chorus as well, lol.
