The HPV Vaccine is out now. Ask your gynecologist about it. Women between 9 and 26 are the best candidates for it. It is best to get it before you are sexually active, although if you have been in the past, you can get tested for HPV. If the results are negative, you are free and clear to get the Vaccine.
I don't know whether or not it is recommended for women who are currently sexually active. But fuck, ladies, ask your doctor.
In case you don't know, HPV is one of the fastest rising STD's in America. It isn't only transmitted through sexual contact, but through skin contact. The vaccine protects against two of the sexually transmitted strains. HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is associated with Genital Warts. In rare instances, when contracted, the body will naturally fight and fend off the virus. 90-93% of all cases of Cervial Cancer can be traced back to HPV. Often, the carriers are asymptomatic.
Protect yourself!
I just finished my Biology of Human Sexuality Course and took a visit to the Gynecologist today. Can you tell?
