Sending my Production II film to the Riverrun film fest in NC. I showed it to a friend recently who... well she didn't like it. It deeply and thoroughly disturbed her. I think she got caught up in the surface content and couldn't bear to dig deeper, which I certainly understand sometimes.
Robert is going to help me compile a DVD of my work so I can a. bring it home and show Rochester this is what it's baby is made of b. burn copies and give them to all my actors, including neda, ned, deanna, charlotte, wade (of the sg realm) and robyn, joe, sarah, and matt.
Carlos asked me to write and direct a film that he will shoot for his Special Studies Cinematography class. I am officially honored and even validated. My mind has already begun to make the film.
In Rochester I want to start a new tattoo: a mirror to the blue on my left side, I want red artery type constructions with licks of flames coming from them on my right side, all leading to the back of my right arm into a heart. I've fallen in love with the structure of the heart. The real heart.
I love editing on film because it is both violent and reconstructive, as is the nature of the film I'm editing. A cut is so violent and final, in essence. To forcibly bind it to another clip is reconstructive, and very frankenstein in nature. It will take it's first breath today. And even perform for a crowd by night's end. Wish me well.
