So I finally showed my mom my pics. Her reaction was funny. Poor thing I think she was a bit overloaded. I cam home from my night with my boy and of course she was like well... how was the whole 8 gauge thing? So after having that awkward convo I of course had to show her my pics lol. We ended up getting in a conversation about social deviance and how nudity and such has become a deviance because of society. I think she stopped listening half way through our conversation because I started to ramble a bit about deviance and what not. What can I say I love my class! When she asked me why I was doing this I told her that it was so I could help redefine beauty. I am tired of girls growing up with role models that are the size of fucking tooth picks. The girls on here are all sorts, we are big small medium tattooed pierced short hair long hair spiked hair black white... we are everything and I think that is so inspiring.

I had a girl in my rehab say she'd rather have AIDS than be fat. I wanted to cry. It broke my heart that she hated herself that much to say something like that. I can't fix that like I can fix a physical addiction. I can't fix a mentality that is so backed by society (not the whole having AIDS instead but you get it). All I can do is try my hardest to give girls growing up these days a possitive outlook on being diffrent. Granted SG isn't exactly being showing to people of all ages lol and we are naked but still, I tink its a a good thing.

I submit that society's attitudes are a function of the majority of individuals' beliefs, and these in turn have been shaped by evolutionary forces over the entire span of our existence. The difficulties that trouble us result from primitive instinctual responses that worked very well for millennia but are not well suited to a modern industrialized world in which previously unknown stimuli constantly trigger reactions of fear when no physical danger exists. Wearing the wrong outfit, losing an argument or even a job or a house can be painful and difficult experiences but don't equate with meeting a hungry lion unexpectedly. Seen in the context of their evolutionary benefit, many of our troubling predilections can be understood, after which we as individuals can decide whether or not to obey these instincts. Finding this or that characteristic in another to be unattractive does not obligate us to behave in a cruel way. Having a consciousness and an intellect frees us from being slaves to any primitive impulse, and realizing how safe our modern environment is compared to prehistoric times allows us give free reign to our instincts for empathy and compassion. It works. smile
