Songmaster is a book by Orson Scott Card about a boy with a golden voice, whose songs have the power to influence others. In the beginning, young Ansset is alone and frightened in the imperial Songhouse. He has no friends, until a girl named Rruk helps him, and comforts him with the following song:

I will never hurt you.
I will always help you.
If you are hungry
I'll give you my food.
If you are frightened
I am your friend.
I love you now.
And love does not end.

I've always liked that stanza, and for some reason I dreamed about it last night. If anyone's looking for something good to read, I recommend Songmaster.
