why does the american media try so hard to pretend that it is objective?

i have serious doubts that a "journalist" can ever truly report in an objective manner. maybe it's my own philosophy butting in here (no shit), but i don't think anyone can ever truly escape a subjective view on anything they say or think.

a friend of mine earlier this evening told that he thought that humans had not yet discovered all of their emotional potential, ergo, there are emotions that we have not yet experienced that might be able to be experienced if we 1) develop more as a species, and 2) throw off the yoke of our current societal obligations and preconceived ideas of emotionality.

that's some serious bullshit.

1) our species is, for the most part, a dead end on this evolutionary trail. like the sponge or something. the most evoling we are going to do is to stop having an appendix or wisdom teeth; maybe lose some more hair. after that.... stagnation until the earth finally moves on.

2) the sort of social obligations that within his line of reasoning would be so easy to shrug off as to be some cumbersome raincoat is THE ENTIRE BASIS OF OUR CULTURE AND WHY WE NOW EXIST. our system may suck, but it's all we have. maybe it's depressing, but unless you are one of the few lucky ones that finds some little thing that works for you- life is crap. really. you're doomed.

i hate eco-warriors. really. i hate what we are doing to the environment, i hate that species are dying at an unimaginable rate. HOWEVER. DO NOT TELL ME THAT WHAT THE HUMAN SPECIES IS DOING TO THE WORLD IS IN SOME WAY "UNNATURAL". THAT IS BULLSHIT.

let's break it down. are we a part of nature? um, YES. so! no matter what we do, it is part of "nature" (though some may say in a broader nature, though i disagree with that). if you are a part of nature, than anything you do is also a part of nature. as a sidenote: species went extinct before man showed up, this shit isn't new. i don't see people protesting about why there aren't fucking dinosaurs. and, dammit, if that's the case, how come everybody thinks the dinosaurs were the first major lifeforms to live on this planet?
also, on that note: there is the theory of the planet orpheous (as the theoretical planet has been called) that used to exist between mars and earth, whose orbit decayed and smashed into earth, which explains a lot of peculiarities about our moon, and also leaves open the idea that life may well have been thriving on this planet, then TOTALLY EXTINGUISHED only to be replaced by new life =single cells moving on to the proto-lizards, et al......

so what the hell? it's a sinking ship, maybe...

NO. IT'S NOT.
look, we won't really change a fucking thing in our lives. depressing? maybe. make the best of it. it might suck most times, but hell, you got more than the infant lost to crib death. stop your bitching. politics ruins things. people ruin things. we're just big roaches that learned to makes bombs and buildings.

life will keep living and the world will forget us. our species will be extinguished far before the sun explodes. fight the fights you want. just know to be happy now is better than always planning for a future that isn't supposed to exist.

ps. this diatribe is completely stream of conciousness and i doubt it makes any sense. i've also been interrupted throughout its writing, so it should make even less sense. have fun.

on the flipside, jess is the best. kiscica and cap'n zechy rock my shit, and i've been challenged to write a screenplay that will be filmed. any ideas for a story?

reprazent.
