once upon a time in america
before the hysteria
before the towers
before the loss of control and power
america am i a coward
i stand up and fight for what i think is right
but i still cry myself to sleep every night
what have we become
death on the news seems like a rerun
schools lose their funds
books are replaced with guns
Oklahoma City was just the beginning
fighting sin with sinning
and i dont think were winning
did we bring this upon ourselves
with our greed for oil and wealth
im tired of warfare
because the worlds not fair
Columbine do you care
New York were you prepared
United States were unaware
unitys at stake and im scared
i hope we survive
this self-sacrifice
we cant even stay alive
wars taking our children in strife
what do i tell his mother
what do i tell his wife
im sorry... but thats life
