I have been to reading screenplays is a great way to improve your skills, and I honestly beleive that constructive critisism is a valuable tool... In fact I pay a lot of money to a wonderful script consultant in Cali. for exactly that! Really good investment if you have the right person doingyour coverage.
Anyway...
I have done 2 assigned reviews because I currenly have 2 scripts ready to be critiqued.
HOLY FUCK! I now understand why 98% of the scripts submitted to studios are immediately thrown out. I'm not an expert, nor do I think that my writing is anything but amateur. But FOR FUCK SAKES! IF YOU DON'T HAVE A FIRM GRASP OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE OR AN ACTUALLY STORY TO TELL WITH CHARACTERS... STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD! I say I have 2 scripts ready, because I don't think I'm ready to subject anyone to the others yet... They aren't ready! They need work. They need a spelling and grammar check. They need someone to point out how much they suck so I can fix 'em... Then public consumption! AND ONLY THEN!!!! FUCK... 6hrs of my life is gone... 6 hrs that I will never see again, and miss a great deal... Ugh!
