and finally after the whole time going through the trouble of trying to fix it and the shit it brought with it being broken for weeks....
solution : brought it to the apple store and they fixed it for free. it took 15 minutes.
i knew this was the case. i knew this solution the whole time. so why didn't i do it in the first place?
