I ♥ Bloc Party & Lemon Jelly

WARNING: Randomness will follow this line of text...

VIDEO!: Bloc Party "Here We Are" - Quicktime - 25MB - DOWNLOADY EXPIRED

Bloc Party have been deafening the household these past few days, i absolutely love them for it and can't wait to see them live in edinburgh on march 1st although my girlfriend won't be with me... frown frown

I've also been playing a lot of Damien Rice as his album "O" is truly beautiful oh and the new Lemon Jelly album '64-'95 is awesome too, i for one love Lemon Jelly, okay they are not everyone's taste in music and they ain't really mine either when i come to really think about it, however they are a welcome break from the normal indie rock and roll, drum & bass, funky house and electronica that seems to occupy the airwaves in my room most of the time. Lemon Jelly also remind me of particular moments in time which are very important to me so they are very much part of the sound track to my life i guess. '64 - '95 has a sticker on the front of the plastic seal explaining that this is Lemon Jelly's new album and how it sounds different to the previous two... i personally don't think it does to be honest - i would put money down on the table saying that if someone played the album before i had heard it i would be able to guess it was them, the give away is their ber clean beats, sampling madness and the way they prolong and build a momentum up only to let it all go at once, it's typically pretty low tempo and chilled out although there are a few tracks on this new album which don't quite fit into the Lemon Jelly formula and it is just a formula, i agree with Alastair Lee over at the beebs collective that Lemon Jelly are not musicians, they are designers, they design their music in the same way they design their art work (since after all they are actually graphic designers anyway) which is to serve a purpose which is generally in my view to entertain and relax, Lemon Jelly are absolutely not interested in making a point or expressing a view, where i disagree with Alastair is that i don't find anything wrong with this, i think its great i can have an album that i can just put on and enjoy its happy-go-merry way, there is little to be read from their music which is what makes it so soothing. Anyway, i'm flying down to london on march 11th with a friend to see them at the brixton academy although admittedly i have absolutely no idea what to expect from Lemon Jelly live.

Erm... in other news...

My poor SKY DIgital box after many years of faithful service has died, i've had to whip out my old onDigital (remember them?!) freeview box to take up the slack although i don't think i'll be replacing the SKY box as i only watched the freeview channels anyway although i may miss the Extreme Sports channel and Motors TV for all my NASCAR races over the summer that i often liked watching.

I finally got my instant messengers up and running with Adium X, my contact details are available from the contact me bit on the left there...

Oh and *finnally* i'm getting BROADBAND IN 30 DAYS TIME!!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin

I did some searches for any newzbin users on here, and yours is the only name that came up. how have u been managing on dial-up all this time surreal

i guess you've sorted the mac client issue by now, but just in case, unison and igrabnews are good'uns, although ign isn't working at the moment and i can't get it to. ever had probs with it?

i prefer the old lemon jelly tunes more than the new ones, the lost horizons album has some super tracks on it, ducks, spacewalk, pushy all really unique and very memorable, which is not something i can say of alot of loungey/ambient music, as albums they're fine, but as individual tracks they're not so much so.

i only recently got into mr. scruff, better late than never, but i've been listening to that alot, i heard both albums at my cousins a few years back and had the two confused ever since.

don't suppse you've found any kills tunes on usenet?
