And, as predicted in an earlier entry, it BURNED! Muahahaaa....











And that pile of crates that many referred to as Wickerman like actually turned out to be a early representation of the Houses of Parliament! However, the city council broke from it's controversial tradition this year by not having kids dancing in and around the doomed structure it while the inferno developed... the farm animals didn't have it so lucky though, they still got toasted.



Actually, hats off to Carlisle City Council, the annual fireshow is probably one if not the only thing they ever seem to do that manages to exceed peoples expectations, unless that is you're someone who expects too much in which case they probably moan a lot and are as miserable as sin.

Anyway, there was quite an amusing sound track being pumped out at what seemed like 10,000,000 RMS while Big Ben burned - i wonder how many other fireshows over the Bonfire season choose these tracks as cheesy as they are in this context...

They kicked off the flames with the Sex Pistols and Anarchy in the UK (quite well suited actually considering they where burning down the houses of Parliament and all) followed by Tom Jones and the Cardigans with Burning Down the House (a personal favourite of mine actually). Next it was time for the Prodigy and no prizes for guessing what track... ugh huh, next was a cleverly selected track if you ask me, it was David Bowie and Heroes by which time the fire was really tearing the structure down - it's quite a reflective track i thought on the part of Guy Fawkes and his band of merry, well, before they where burned alive for trying to do what they planned, men. All finished up with the Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash just before they made Carlisle sound like Baghdad with enormous rockets so loud they made a deep thud which would set car alarms off over in the car park before exploding causing half the crowds hearts to miss a beat - oh yes, i love big bangs. I do hope those rocket cases just vaporise on detonation other wise a couple of those things could really hurt someone on the way back to earth... *hehe*

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed bonfire night too...
