Just saw a band called "The Turing Machine". Those that know about my affinity for computer science history will appreciate how much I appreciate the name. My friend Dave who appreciates computer science history no less than I do thought that they were pretty bad. I thought they were actually very good, especially for one particular event that occurred - I don't know whether it was due to my state of mind or due to the type of music that they play. During the show, I closed my eyes, and felt my eyelids to be very heavy. At some point, I lost those "floaties" you get when your eyes are closed but you are still focused on your visual field. Instead, everything that I would think of would spring into my head, not as an abstract thought, but as a very visual object - it's as if I was dreaming (that is, my brain generated images that were not actually there), but I was fully aware that I was awake and at a concert (it would've been pretty difficult to fall asleep given the volume of the general ambience). So, I visually cycled through a few suits of a deck of cards, and it was all very vivid. It's one thing to close your eyes and _imagine_ an ace of spades, it's a completely and much more strong thing to close your eyes and _see_ an ace of spades.

Damn, the brain is amazing
