I got as far as learning the alphabet when I was working a summer job during university, and a couple of the other employees were deaf. I never did get as far as learning sign language. I commend you.
My opinion is that you have to experience a lot of things, and then think about them a lot, before you can decide if you've found what you're looking for, or decided that you even KNOW what you're looking for....and even then, since we all change as we mature, that "thing" changes every year....maybe less often as we grow older, but it still changes.
so if effect, it's very much a moving target.
