You know, much like many people I thought that there was something to the "American Dream."

If you believe enough and work hard enough with mind and your heart and hand you can accomplish whatever it is you're aiming for.

I have had a mission that I periodically come back to. It's two-fold.

A. Serve my country
B. Get myself a college degree that has utility in the real world.

One small hitch. I've only got one "good" eye. That no dice with the Armed Forces of the United States of America. It's been a frustrating run having had a blind side and no depth perception since birth, but I've never thought of it as true disability. Until now.

Look at it from this view. A single poorly operating piece of human equipment is keeping me from the best way available to finance a college education. The aforementioned apparatus is keeping me from puting on a uniform that I've wanted to wear since I was five.

Not a pleasant realization, gently as it's been given to me (three different times) that I am in a limited way, a cripple and being penalized for it.
girly:
Wow. I didn't realize this was something you wanted to do for so long. When you told me you were waiting to hear back from them, I figured you just tried to get in after thinking about it a few years.

If it helps, a lot of us don't see you as a cripple or defective or anything; We just see you as Bill. smile
