Last Wednesday I was watching a lovely lady spread this jelly like substance on my wife's breast. Normally, this would be a dream come true and I would have been in this lusty and rock hard mood. But I wasn't. The jelly was the gel they put on the skin to aid in a sonogram. Also, it was not on the belly looking for a new life that we could celebrate. It was on her breast looking at a lump.

My wife had found the lump just over a month before and had seen her doctor within days of the find. We were already flustered waiting the month for the radiology appointment. My wife had already tried twice to get radiology to run the test before her appointment. Both times ended with, go home and we will call you if someone cancels. The lovely lady who ran the test saw the fear in our eyes and told my wife to call her cell if were hadn't heard anything by Friday. By Friday afternoon I was calling her. On the questionnaire before the tests My wife stated that back in '02 or '03 she had had a biopsy of another lump and it had turned out as a benign fibrous mass that later went away on it's own. The doctor at the hospital's radiology department wanted the records from the biopsy episode to compare their film with the new ones. We are now in Texas and at the time we lived in Arizona. After my wife's appointment I quickly looked up the doctors office online. I shouldn't say quickly, we couldn't remember the name and I had to search online for all doctors in that city and then look at their location and find them from what I remembered were the office was at. (Google Map ROCKS!) So when the RT called me back she stated that the info had not been received and that was causing the hold up.

Today my wife called her doctor. She was told the info has not been received from the hospital's radiology department. She next called the RT that had generously given us her cell number, she was told that she would look it up and call her back. My wife gave her my cell number because she had forgotten hers at home. This was before lunch (11ish) and it is now almost 5pm. My wife has called me twice to see if I have heard anything. Nothing yet. Now the rational side of me says that it is nothing or they would have called us immediately. All alarm bells would be ringing, but it must be nothing and they are dealing with the people who have real problems. The Tattooed, pissed off sailor in me says they don't care and if we don't start a shit storm, no one will tell us that we must start the treatment part and get ready for a hell.

I listen to both my local NPR station and the Phoenix NPR station online and yes I'm a member of both. There is a segment on Morning Edition were Leroy Sievers has a weekly commentary were he talks about his cancer. I find it amazing, inspirational and heartfelt. But, I don't what my wife to have to go through it!

Why won't they call!!!!!!!!
