So I'm getting more and more worn out getting so hyper involved in shit and trying to figure out what I want to do with this crazy little thing called life.
I think I've found a pretty good place to live this summer. It's close to campus and 900 for the whole summer, which is pretty sweet to me. It's kinda far from where everyone else I know is living but....that's just how it's gonna be. And the other person staying there this summer is potentially dramatic. But, there's furniture and a pool.
I think I'm going to take an extensive Chinese language program this summer to get three quarters of language out of the way. It'll be like 4 hours a day but I figure it's best to have it all in one big block so that I can work or drive to Sac for the rest of the day. I just hope it's not at some ungodly hour. And that the govt gives me money like a good little [insert gender].
In my women and violence class we've been talking about the gendering of mental illness and the historical contexts of "madness". Reading a lot about witch trials and stuff, which is pretty awesome. Today we talked with this Polish lawyer lady who defends abused women and we were talking about how fucked up "battered women syndrome" is because it denies the woman the right to pursue self defense. This relates to the social role of women as docile and inactive. The women is basically denied her agency and forced into the category of damaged or abnormal. God forbid there's a violent woman out there with reason behind her actions (I do not support or condone violence but I believe that violence is inherent in law because it is a threat and therefore can only be argued in those terms).
Why don't people know who Foucault is?
Any, this lady got me all excited about being a lawyer again, which is good because I like to have a path set up. I'm gonna research abuse in same-sex couples and the lack of legislation and how their exclusion from the legal system can also be seen as an act of violence. Fun.
I was daydreaming about just biking to the tattoo shop downtown and getting inked after class just to fucking do it. I want a really ironic feminist symbol tramp stamp. It's hilarious to me. And then I want an equality symbol = over my vagina. Because I'm a dork. And that should be reflected in my body/temple. And I want cheetah print. Because I can't hide my spots, I just gotta let my freak flag fly. Oh dear.
Thoughts?

Oh, also, I'm interested in taking some photos. Doing a kinda of political pin-up satire?

I was thinking of Jean Focault. The one you meant sounds a lot more fascinating.
