my job is so very hard sometimes.
it is so inappropriate for me to know intimate details about peoples live, especially when they are ppl i know. ppl's family members. i hate knowing that my friends dad as leukemia and seeing him going out on a day pass, hoping that it means he is doing better, when in fact his condition has not changed, and i know this later on in my shift when he returns to go back to his palliative care room.
i hate that there are so many pts waiting for long term care placement, that there are ppl waiting on medical floors for a year or more for an appropriate place for them to be living, instead clogging up the entire hospital so that when we admit patients from ER they end up staying there. for a week we had 4-0 rooms to examine traumas. and its province wide.
i hate that the solution is so very simple, and i hear nurses and dr's talking about it everyday, but somehow the gov't isnt putting a plan in place. just build huge long term care facilities. the problem is only going to get worse as population has always increased over the years so there are only more and more elderly ppl. plus we are extending life.
what is with that anyhow? like if a 97yr olds body needs to die, why intubate? i dont understand why ppl are more concerned with longevity than quality of life.
i truely believe that our gov't is purposely fucking up our health care system so that they can prove that gov't funded health care doesnt work so they can privatize everything.
that is my rant
