Fuck popular modern music. yes indeed - it really. . . really bores the hell out of me, and even on here, i just don't go near teh boards anymore because it. . . rubs me up the wrong way. even band names now strike me as stupid, daft - and tell you exactly what you're getting without you having to listen to them.
still listening to blues? i stumbled across a leadbelly clip on youtube a while ago - before we could post youtube clips on here - and now, i can't bloody find it, but it was leadbelly sort of. . . wandering around the deep south countryside singing two or three songs, about ten minutes long. good stuff.
that van gogh painting is awesome. have you ever seen robert altman's 'vincent and theo' with tim roth as van gogh? i liked it a lot, and tim roth did a pretty decent job.
yeah, christmas this year will be spent in scotland - i think after my mother's 'i'm all alone' ramblings much of the time she was here, we were kind of lampooned into going, but it will be good to be back, and i kind of can't wait to go to edinburgh again, get a fish supper, and go out for a pub lunch. steak pie and chips
i've meant to get the strings EP for years - i had a taping of it way back when after borrowing the 12" from someone (art school, obviously) and it was really, really good - the songs it took from hips and makers it totally reinvented, making them deeper, more emotional, more intense. . . aye. she's good.
anyway, yeah, the arm and the shoulder are a little better than they were, and my sleep patterns are slowly returning to something resembling normality, which i'm quite happy about since in these days of being out of commission sofie has been rushing ahead and churning out little ink drawings that are all. . putting me to shame, she's on a roll and i'm like 'damn it, i want to paint'. . . impatience is something i'm just no good with.
yeah, i had ned neighbours back in dundee - in the three years i lived there before coming here, they came and went, probably something defined by losing their housing benefit and stuff like that (mwahaha), one of them had his television on 24 hours a day and would (i kid you not) play the drums (badly) while watching television, often at 11 o'clock at night. yeah, me and tayside constabulary got very well aquainted, and he didn't live there too long. . .
i'm not sure what kind of 'dug' we'll get, i'd frankly rather have a badger but i don't think that would exactly be legal, and we've never seen that one we saw in the woods on my birthday since, or any other - so we'll probably get something like a border collie. they're black and white, right? that's almost a badger. . .
tomten are. . . hmm, how do i even explain that? maybe i should send you to miss severus to ask. as much as i can explain it, swedes have tomten instead of santa claus, but also in general, that have been in folklore in scandinavia for aeons - they are a leprechaun like race, sort of like gnomes who live in the woods and they, not santa claus, bring children their christmas gifts.
aye. . .

aw man, whoever uploaded the Old Girlfriends clip must have taken it down. boo.
i tried posting the YouTube window itself in my recent journal rather than the link, but it wouldn't let me. that SG feature update must have been made in the last coupla days!
hats off to ya for the Bouville plug! should we tout it in the poetry/art groups too?

hey. Pastura referred me to you.
You're cool. It's relieving for me to see a verbose thinker such as yourself as a fellow member. Not only are you cool, but you've got a touch of danger hanging just unseen like a light morning mist that veils an island.
If I had more time to leave a comment, I would. I'll just second Pastura in saying that Franny and Zooey is definitely an amazing work, my favorite out of all of the "Glass Saga" books he did. Boiled down to its simplest plot points, it could be seen as a sequel to Catcher, hoping to answer the question of "what happens next?" But really, it's much more than that. The style in which this book has been written was such a powerful thing to me in high school that to this day, I have to struggle with myself to not write this way. Of course, I won't spoil these things for you. But with your comments on Goethe, I think that if you get around to reading Franny and Zooey, we could have quite a conversation.
This is the shortest comment you will ever get from me. That's not a promise, or even a threat. It's more like a statement of fact.

A scot walks into a pharmacy...... how's it going man thanks for the birthday wishes. I don't think I'm myspace friends with you add me up dude. I've been very busy since I moved to the laid back urban area making music, drawings, helping organize canoe based shows etc so as a result I contribute to the boards less now. Which I think is better for me as a person. For example today I got up and rode my bike across the lake on the old causeway (30+miles Round trip) bought a 30 Pack of PBR prepped some chicken for a barbque we're having later and cleaned up my apartment for our party. But really thanks for remembering me and I'll try to be a better intraweb friend. Thanks and regards,
Adam!

Ah, yeah that's what I mean, I guess it's pretty sad people have nothing else than alcohol in common and that they need it so bad to do anything, I mean... anything. LAME.

judging by these lists, we're incredibly similar... fake boobs and nipple piercings break my fucking heart. it's like, why?!
love the Appel pieces. how proud the parents must be! sarcasm aside, they're very striking, and kinda gleefully rebellious.
Bouville - received some photocopied sketches from Faith the other day (in the post; she's moved to bloody Brighton) and they're looking good so i've asked for the originals to scan. looks like we won't be going live til August, but it's worh it to have Faith involved again.

ah, breaking up dixie with some reagan now. good. eris was also cute, as i think a lot of the now archived girls were. actually, i think some of the nicest looking girls one the site - full stop - are archived. kind of sad really.
bestiality and lists - a good combination for any journal entry, i think, especially where listing pet peeves is concerned. i think i might do some listing of such things myself next journal, of course the 'peeves' will be a longer list than the loves list, no matter how hard i may try to make them of equal length - you get grumpier and more cynical as you get older, or at least i have, and think most of the world has gone down the toilet since the early nineties - internet, cheap flights and the ability to download music instead of having to buy albums to for one song you happen to like by a band. . . 'it's not like it used to be,' as i'm often heard chiming.
funnily enough, most of your pet peeves match some of my many. i've alwyas hated phones, laterally in dundee, i got a lot of telemarketers calling me up, to the point that for the last six months or so, i just never plugged my phone in unless i was going to call someone. interruptions of any kind, i have a problem with - phonecalls are part of that, but likewise, i can't stand someone trying to talk to me when i'm writing or painting - i basically have to stop, and generally, glare at the person doing the talking until they go away. sofie basically knew me well enough by a year ago to know that if i'm painting, she has to go be in another room, or out of the flat completely, but yeah. . . i'm one of those people who just can't focus on doing something with people hanging around distracting me.
i stopped listening to the radio - in the uk at least - in about 1992. and at that point, i was only listening to radio 2.
as for middle grounds. . . you would hate people here - no nation on earth loves sitting on the fence more than the swedish do, it's almost like they're incapable of having a clear on concise opinon, as if it's wrong to strongly feel one way or another, they have to be smack bang in the middle so as not to offend anyone. . . that pisses me off, mostly because i respect people with strong opinions most, people who're passionate about what they think, and believe in - and sitting on the fence just shows. . . i don't know, a lack of conviction.
end notes on books - ditto. when i get to the end of a book, i'm done, i don't want to read so dissection of what i've just finished reading.
and fake boobs. . . yeah. there have been a few sets with those gone up lately. sort of cringe-inducing, really. each to their own, but i just think overly enlarged boobs look bloody awful. i'd rather have a girl with no boobs at all - know what i mean?
ah well, enough of my rambling. how'd the skizzenbuch?
