I can really imagine how sleeping during the day and being awake at night can contribute to a depression! I remember how hard it was on me when I lived in Finland during the winter and the sun came up at 9am and went down at 2pm. Sun is life!

Hooray for new cars! I've never driven an automatic car. Ever. The only thing (with very few exceptions) they teach in German driving schools (we don't get classes in school or anything. It's all private driving schools here) is driving stick. It'll take a bit until you figure out how it works, but you'll be fine.
