I know what you mean on your journal. Relationships and attractions can be so strange and hard to understand. Sometimes it's as simple as the old "you always want what you can't have" or there is just one thing about the person that you find really attractive but as a whole you know it's not a good thing. nothing exciting to report. Stocked up for Thanksgiving. I skimmed all the magazine's at the checkout to see if there were any NEW sex tips or tricks to learn..nothing new. Proceeded to lug my frozen turkey home..

I have finally come down from my coffee, snickers bar binge, feeling less cranky and moody, think I can finally face the general public without killing someone. the sugar fell down into
the murky bitter glass
stained
with the unmistakable blemish of hard water.
"it's clean," she said, and i knew
but there were particulars to her,
and coffee was no exception
the sugar had to sink to the bottom.
i held the transparent mug up to the dim
yellowish kitchen light
and made sure.
i wanted to see her rewarded.
"it isn't too sweet and
it gives me something to look forward to"
was what she always said. it was those last
sucrose-laden drops of maxwell house
that she based her love of coffee drinking on, but it
was a common ritual as well.
i didn't stir it enough,
i knew she liked it that way
and i set it in front of the strained hand that hid her
anxiety branded face. she drank with weary lips
and hardened eyebrows as i gazed
upward at the sinking ceiling
almost ready to fall
caved in from weeks of merciless snow.
she wiped away a small spot of the flawed water
from her glass before her sips
led her to that last, final gulp
and the sugar lazily ebbed into her warm mouth.
she spent so much time trying to fix
that ceiling, like she
tried to fix so many other things
just beyond her small scope
of things to look forward to.
