This morning, we were predicted to be rain-free for the foreseeable future. About 11:0o, it started to rain. We've been a bit droughted, so I was glad to see it start to come down. For a bit. At 11:30, it looked like this:

No big deal, the street's a river, but it'll be OK. I went to lunch about a half hour later. These two parking lots are within a block of my work...

We shut down the platform (500some servers), because water was coming in; and campus lost one supernode (one of three major internet transfer points on campus, probably $1mil in damage) when the 4 feet of standing water blew a window in. I'm certain that there's more damage, but those are the ones that I could see and will affect my job.

I haven't been home yet. I'm terrified of what happened there. If there was serious damage, I don't know how I'll get my wife out of her wheelchair or cleaned up at night, etc. Gods help me if the power's out. (Power isn't recreational at my house, it's necessary to keep the wife alive.) If the basement's flooded, we'll lose the backup generator... Ahhh, well, no point in kvetching about things that I can't control and have no knowledge of.

Woah! It floods here a lot too. Well it usually does, but for whatever reason it's only rained like, twice this summer...

Thank you for the comment on my set smile kiss

Thanks for the feedback. I was talking to one of his close friends who says he's a really good guy. Never mentioned a lick of him having a girlfriend. We were at a party where everyone was pretty familiar with everyone else so I'm pretty sure somebody would have mentioned something if he did have a girl on the side. I dunno. Expect the worst, hope for the best, right? smile
