So, I realize that this probably isn't the best place to ask this (and that it's highly unlikely that anyone is listening anyway), but in WI there's a massive push to "defend marriage" by banning gay marriage. (I read another story at 2am about it, so it's on my mind.) I just don't understand how someone else's marriage has any affect on the validity of yours. The fact that 2 guys got married doesn't make me love my wife any less. 2 women getting married doesn't invalidate the fact that I swore to stand by her until one/both of us die. Why do people have such a nasty desire to care what goes on in someone else's bedroom? (OK, I'll admit to liking to watch, but only when someone else wants to show me. Even then, I don't pass judgements, my brain's too busy doing other things...) The absurdity of it all is that the people who keep pushing (on a national scale) for a Defense of Marriage Act are the same assholes who announce that they've filed for divorce in a press conference before they tell their spouce or have *someone else* deliver the papers while their wife is in the hospital battling cancer or have a mistress or two while holding up their marriage as perfect.
I've always had a hard time understanding people, so I don't get it. Why is this an issue?
