Happy Halloween, everyone.

Went to a party last night dressed as Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I must admit I'm a little too tan to pull it off properly but it was fun. I thought it would be a cool idea to set up lights and a backdrop and photograph everyone in costume. I spent most of the party doing that. Turned out to...

Heya! Your photos are really great. My favorites are the first Cirque one (great colors!!), the fondue one and the one and Bonaventure Cemetary. I am so envious of people like you who can shoot other people so well. Your photos have so much energy and movement to them. Great job!

On those concert photos, what sort of settings were you using? Most of the concert photos I have seen from people on here are the real dark blurry ones, (which are cool too, don't get me wrong), but yours are very sharp and focused. How'd you do it??? Hehehe.

And Mo is a very cute dog. He reminds me so much of Hercules smile

hey nice meeting you face to face as well. glad you had fun at the con - it's a good time.

i use the Stroboframe VH-2000 cuz it's small and the flash stays in proper orientation (as least to me) to the lens/camera.

i'll pull the shots of you errr.."working" (ie talking to dazza) <g>

Ok, so I was reading your post, thinking about myself too. I checked out your portfolio online for photojournalism, and you know what? I SAW ART. I see art in your PJ photography. You see, "art" is any form of self expression. I know, I know, how can you candidly shoot shots of an event or person and be artisitc? It is, because you see it through YOUR eyes, AND, you capture the moment to convey a story or message. And to be able to do this sooooo fast, takes a creative mind. I think you may not feel like you are doing artistic photography because, perhaps, it is for someone else, and not yourself. I see all of those photos as the very essence of art.... I CAN SEE IT, why can't you? You, my friend, have a gift... you have a gift to capture humans at their very humanistic moments...and we get to live though your lens. It is almost, for us, a form of voyuerism. The PJ takes the human race to places they have never seen, and a photo does not necessarily need any words with it. I picture truly is worth a thousand words. To have a gift to visually convey something, to visually convey an emotion or feeling, AND to get the viewer to emotionally respond to it...well...THAT is truly powerful and worth while.
Try taking on a personal PJ project. Something from your roots. Something that will be very meaningful. Or, better yet, do some charitable photography work for someone. I truly believe, that when a person is at their lowest financial level, and they still give to someone else, by sacrificing their own happiness, they do recieve rewards for it. It is bizzare, but it has happened to me twice. I whole heartedly did something charitable, expecting nothing in return, and I totally got 10 times that in positive occurances in my life the following week.

Congrats on the award! Funny how you found out about it.

You switched to Canon... blasphemy!!! hehe
The 1D is a nice camera though.
Switching all your gear over must be a fun transition... not! wink

I look forward to seeing more of your work.
