So I got back form my trip to Savannah last night at about 2AM. Drove out there last Thursday to meet some friends i went to college with. Stopped by my parents house on the way to drop off my dog for them to watch while i continued on to Savannah. I went to college in Savannah and lived there for 10 years before moving to Texas.

This past weekend the college, The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD for short), had its annual Sidewalk Arts Festival. The college takes over Forsyth Park and students, prospective students, alumni and locals draw with chalk on the concrete quares in the park. I was going to meet my best frinds from Virginia there and get out of town for a few days for a short vacation.

Got to Savannah on Friday eveing and started my drinking at the alumni reception (2 glasses of wine) where i ran into some other friends. The drinking continued where i met another friend for dinner ( 2 beers). Also ran into yet another friend and former classmate who worked at the restaurant and made plans to hang ot the next night. My friends from VA arrived late and i met them and some other friends at a bar where we saw another friends band play. (Many beers were had here) Stayed out until around 4am. Got to the hotel at about 4:30 am. Was supposed to get to the Sidewlak arts festival by 11am but that didn't happen. We got ther around 1. The judging of the squares ended around 2. Didn't get much work done on mine as people we knew came by and visited with us. I was drawing a picture of a photo i shot a few months ago

I was almost done when the pressure suddenly dropped and i started pouring down rain. I managed to get the photo before my drawing got washed away.

So we hung out under one of the small tents at the festival until the rain died down. We made our way back to the car and got some coffee before returning to the hotel to clean up for dinner. After dinner (where the drinking began again) we met up on RIver Street to wait for some of out friends to meet us and begin another night of drinking and bar hopping. We had a group of about 10 of us and hit a numebr of our old haunts and few new ones, adding and losing some people along the way. One of the things i miss about living in Savannah is being able to live in a downtown area where everything is walking distance and you can stumble drunkenly home afterward. I had to stop drinking early since i was driving us back to the hotel. After closing down the last bar at 3am i drove a few peole home and we made our way back to the hotel by 4AM.

After getting up and meeting some friends for lunch we headed out to the beach. One of the other things i miss about Savannah is living about 20 minutes away from tha beach. Not the prettiest beach but a beach nonetheless. The water was cold and it wasn't the prettiest day but it was nice to feel the sand under my feet and hva the water ocean wash over them. Just wish it were windier because the sand gnats were annoying.

shot this of my friends. Reminds me of the inside photo of a CD cover or something.

Anyway, it was a good time and great seeing friends again. I don't miss living in Savannah but i do miss the people. SO after driving back to my parents to get my dog, I made the 14 hour drive back.

Not really feeling rested but it was nice to get away for even a few days.

Heading to the DC, Baltimore, Richmond VA, NYC areas for my next trip at the end of June.
