I am splurging and getting the Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Autofocus Lens. I Have always used a zoom and rely on it so much that I thought it would be a good place for me to start. I have seen some of the images shot with this lense and am blown away at the quality and crispness of the pics. My next purchase (once this camera has paid me enough in work to afford it) will be the Wide Angle EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Autofocus Lens (which is really hard to find) and the Telephoto EF 85mm f/1.2L USM Autofocus Lens. Perhaps the 50mm in the L series as well.

As things stand it will take me ages to get enough dosh together to get those lenses...but work has been increasing for me... My pics have graced 3 front pages so far (of small local weeklies, but its still something!) and I have been getting 1-4 freelance gigs a week. Once I have my big swanky cam I am going to go in and sell myself to the big boys. THey may tell me to Fuck off, but really who cares. I also am going to start doing portrait pics.... Kids, Animals and preggers ladies... and of course some lovely nudes ANd band stuff (live shows and such. I feel now, with real equipment I can justify actually charging people ( I mean how would you feel if someone was using a point and shoot and you were putting down a wad of cash?!).

I already got one gig taking pics of some old ladys crystal collection while I was out shooting a story th other day!

I am hoping that within the year I will have a viable photo biz going for me...

How long did it take you to get to the point where you could pay the rent?

Still more in common aside from our being geminis.....

I only really started taking snaps 2 years ago (at 25)...By the time I hit 33 I will be where you are now at... fingers crossed.

Ooooooooo I would love to see more duran duran shots! How was the show?! Did you shoot for fun or work?
