You have to love drunken fathers. So if you haven't figured out already, I live at home (because it's cheap) and I don't have a job because I don't want one right now. Anyway, my dad comes home last night after a few too many beers just in time for the 10 o'clock news. The news was mentioning something about the tsunami victims/relief, and he started in on me being vegetarian. He said that if the world ends, I'd die because the plants and shit would go before the animals and I wouldn't eat them to survive. If it's the end of the world, NOTHING is going to survive long enough to get a bite to eat! I just told him that I'm vegetarian out of conscience, and that I'd eat an animal or even a human if it meant absolute survival. He then got into how the job market is basically cannibalistic and that the "White" people and the "Republicans" are screwing over the minorities and the poor. I'll admit there is still a slight little bit of racial tension even in today's society, but I sure as hell don't think it's a conspiracy.
So in short, it kinda wrecked my attitude, because my dad just has no clue. He thinks I want to be a miserable working-class laborer for the rest of my life. Don't try to berrade me for my ideals and what you don't know about me just because your life didn't come out the way you wanted.
Makes me remember why I joined the Navy to get away from family in the first place.

ewww, the navy? why would you go and do a silly thing like that? there are other ways out other than selling your soul to the government. ooh, sorry, i'm probably sounding like your dad.
i've always wondered about that sort of thing.
about ten years ago these kids in israel were forced (part of society...blahblahblah) to join the army as every kid is. but they said they wouldn't go because they were vegan. their army provided vegan meals and even synthetic boots for these two to wear. pretty cool.
