Friday: Tattoo is healed up alright but still feels very tender. Went to the Mean Fiddler box office to try and get a ticket for Witchcraft at the Borderline in December but they don't handle tickets for them anymore, went to the Borderline and got the address for their new box office somewhere in Camden I don't know, said you can also get tickets through See Tickets so I may as well do that. Went up to Camden and got a ticket for Alabama Thunderpussy next Saturday at the World's End, then went to the second hand place and picked up Crucial Youth's discography, a two CD set of Gang Green, and albums by Todd & Voorhees (rare as fuck find of the week). Got something to eat at the Vegan Thai place and something to drink from Marks & Spencer's then got in line outside the Underworld. I've never felt so old at Hardcore show before. Some of the kids there couldn't have been more than thirteen (maybe even younger, I'm a shit judge of age), in a way it's a good thing, from the way they're dressed I could tell most of them got into Hardcore through the commercial bands and now they're here checking out the DIY scene, and in another way it's a bad thing because most of the young kids act like arseholes. I noticed some foreign people who'd come for Ninjafest this weekend, which is cool that they'd come out a check out what's going on in the UK scene.

Jailbait: Shit, idiotic beatdown Hardcoe.

Honour Among Thieves: I take it back, I did actually get their demo this time, the first two times I saw them I just thought they were OK, they played their arses off this time. The singer said something righteous "there are six UK bands playing here tonight and we've nearly packed out this place" but he kind of ruined it a couple of songs later "this song comes out to anyone who agrees with me when I say the best period for Hardcore is 93-99, fuck the old school shit, Metal was how I was raised" no fucking response. There was a lot of kids down front singing along but the singer still found enough space to get down on the floor and walk around the crowd. On the last song the singer dived off the side of the sound desk and over my head, the bass player even came out in the pit, he had a cordless thing on his back so he could still play.

Get Fucking Dead: I noticed some of the members of Jailbait so more of the same. Actually I thought they were better than Jailbait but most of their songs consisted of them saying their name a bunch of times.

Dead Swans: Really took me by surprise, Punky Hardcore with beatdowns like Comeback Kid. Bought their seven inch afterwards.

Last Witness: The singer was this short guy I've seen at damn near every London Hardcore show I've been to (and even the one in Folkestone with Geoff, Lindsay and her little sister, who this guy tried to chat up apparently). They opened with the intro to Among The Living by Anthrax which gave me hope but then their songs degenerated into long beatdowns that sounded nicked from Hatebreed songs and the singer aped Pierre from Knuckledust's vocal style. Fucking shit.

Your Demise: By all right I shouldn't like them, I have a similar thing with Terror who are the most idiotic Hardcore band around but like Terror, Your Demise are just fucking good at what they do. Stood at the front and sung along to the bits of songs I knew but didn't get to sing into the mic which is kind of a good thing because the words aren't that well set in my mind. It was a shame I had to leave the front before they played more of the songs I actually knew the words to as I had to get my bag out of the cloak room to beat the rush and do one last round of the merch tables.

Got to Victoria just in time before Marks & Spencer closed, got a fruit salad and a fast train to Chatham then a taxi home.
