So I got this email today from a new grad student in the department (who is very much a white American girl ... so this isn't a non-native speaker issue) in response to me sending her some old journal articles to help her get her project off the ground (names changed to protect the innocent, otherwise its word for word):

Normally I'm not a stickler for punctuation and spelling (because I suck at it myself and this is email afterall). I can overlook the lack of commas and the use of "your" instead of "you're". But what I CANNOT overlook is being called a terrorist (from dictionary.com):

... or a member of an all-girl '80s cartoon rock band:

I will not stand for it!


... and I am most definitely not an extremely gorgeous SG.
