Working holidays sucks, but I'll make today almost as much as I make in a normal week. Well, gross anyway. Uncle Sam will eat up about 75% of my double time and a half, but still.
The whole New Orleans thing is pissing me off...
1. It was a city dear to my heart, even though I only lived there for a few years as a child. I hate that the New Orleans I knew and loved no longer exists and will likely never exist again. (Yes, I know this is shallow and self centered)
2. I hate that some of the people that could have left before the huricane choose not to. Fuckin idiots, now people have to come save your ass.
3. Some assholes have no common sense. Shooting at rescue workers? Cops? WTF... OK, so you like being able to loot at will? How long did you think that was going to last? Who did you think was going to save your ass when you had stolen all the available food?
4. All the finger pointing. It was a category 5 hurricane that was almost a direct hit on a major city. You cannot prepare for that. What should we do? Have a 50,000 man army on standby at all times in case there is an event of this magnitude? Who's going to pay them to sit on thier ass and wait? Yes, some things could have been handled better. Yes, lessons will be learned. Get over it, everyone is doing the best they know how.
I consider myself lucky, the few family members I have in the area were far enough east that they were nearly unaffected.
Oh, get this. My sister in Shreveport tells me people there are panicing about the evacuees coming from N. O. They are arming themselves against the heathens from the south. Ummm... Hello!?! You live in Shreveport. Trust me, the folks from N. O. are not any bigger criminals than the neighbors you have already.
Fucking assholes.
This makes me sad also:
Speaking of which...
I still need a date for HorrorPops on the 18th and MCR on the 23rd. Anyone? (How's that for pathetic?
)
My nephew's 4th birthday is coming up. What do you get a boy who is prone to temper tantrums (read throws shit or hits people with stuff), spends way too much time indoors and needs to learn to entertain himself?

You rule.

We debated it but she has early morning work plus a meeting tomorrow. And the rest of tonight is dedicated on getting caught up with classes for both of us (again).
