The Wire is awesome, but it's hard for new viewers to get into it. First, it doesn't sound like it would be entertaining (cops trying to figure out things we just saw on screen), but it really is. Also, it's quite complicated, so you should watch from the beginning or with someone who follows the show. It's worth it, though.
