I caught a bunch of live shows this last weekend. I wanted to go and see Mike Gunther on friday night hoping he was headlining but he opend for Ben Weaver and Martin Deveney. It was an awesome show. M. Gunther was great as usual and Ben Weaver was strangley impressive. I didn't even know who Matin Deveney was until I heard a song that they have on a compil;tion cd I have that was recorded live at Beaners in Duluth. Whats freaky is that I went to see Haley Bonar play on saturday at the Kitty Cat Club and Matin Deveaney played there opening up for her but without his band. (she lives in Duluth too) I went to another bar after teh mike gunther show and they had the Drummer from Husker Du playing guitar on stage. Not to rip on Husker Du but OMG does that guy blow chunks. he was horrible. At one point though he called first ave from the stage to see if Hank Williams the III was still there. That was kinda funny. So yeah I am exzcited because I am going to see Metric play tomorrow at the Fine Line. I heard they actually have a video on MTV now. I suppose they deserve to sell out. They are good. And that is the way to get great gigs and "make it." This may be the last time I can see them before they start playing large venues( which I can't stand.)
