Thursday, I went out to see RIVERDANCE with my father. I had always wanted to see the show since middle school, and i finally got the chance when i decided to get the tickets myself (rather than my parents surprise me with them, WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE!!!!!!)

I got into the theater at the Lyric, and sat down, the lights dimmed and the music started to swell. Slowly, the stage lights came up just a bit, and a screen in the back showed an ice blue river, and the words "RIVERDANCE - A JOURNEY" written on it. A few of the dancers came out onto the stage in slow paced movements. I was definitely on the edge of my seat, because i could see them moving gracefully in the midst of it all. When the lights came on, they all stomped their feet really hard, and you could actually feel it, as well as you could hear it. I was so excited, and i was on the edge of my seat the entire show. You would think that the show centers all around irish-step dancing, and then you would be wrong just as i was. Not only was there authentic irish step, there was tap, ballet, flamenco, and even modern dance........and the music......there was celtic, jazz, hip-hop, latin, basically something for everyone and more. RIVERDANCE's main lead male dancer used to be Michael Flatley, but the guy that is there now was great, if not better than the original. There were a few musical interludes in the show, and one of them was to honor this character, one who was young, and his life was taken too soon, it made me think of my older brother who passed....... frown. I was standing up for literally every performance, and cheering as loud as possible. So loud in fact that another person (passing me as the show ended) exclaimed, "You must have REALLY enjoyed the show!!!" To which i replied, "YES, yes i did!!!" It was one moment, a chance of a lifetime, that i will never forget. smile (by the way, one of the people in the play looked like my cousin, another looked JUST LIKE halfjack

Friday, i saw "THE DA VINCI CODE", and after so many months of waiting, i was not dissapointed, in fact i was stunned. Reading the book, i could not take my eyes away from the pages (with an exception for when i got sleepy) and I knew that this book would once be a movie. I then knew that if they casted the wrong people, the movie would bomb, and in my eyes, there would be no hope for later movies. Fortunately they cast the right people, specifically Paul Bettany as the albino monk, Silas. He was creepy and intriguing at the same time, and his role was excellently played. What really makes me laugh about the book, is that people around the world are protesting this, like some sort of war is going to break out over its release. Dan Brown, author of "THE DA VINCI CODE" has made constant mention that the book is fiction, so why are people so scared of it? Because they are losers, thats why wink Go see the movie, dont let Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood tell you how THEY think the movie is going to be, go see it for yourself.

This has been a tiring couple of days, and its time that i finally get some well deserved sleep.

P.S. FIND ROBERT LANGDON........

cairo:
Haha, you're adorable.

I actually wasn't very impressed by either the book or the movie. The book obviously required a lot of time, research and creativity to write (even if Dan Brown did take some liberties with some of it, but hey, that's what writers do), but I found his writing style to be really irritating. The movie to me was just a badly chopped up version of a poorly written novel.
