I had my first akward experience because of my ink this weekend. My friend and I were running on the boardwalk in Long Branch. I was wearing a sleeveless shirt and he was shirtless, he has a full back tattoo and two sleeves, because it was a nice day. Whe took a break about 5 miles into or run and stopped by a stairway down to the beach. After we had been standing there for a couple minutes a mom and her two daughters, who I would guess where probably 19 and 17 years old, started walking up the stairs. The mom looked up, saw my friend and me, grabbed her daughters' hands, and then turned around and walked back down the beach to another stairway. What did she think? We where gonna steal her daughters and have our way with them just? I never had an experience like that before, I mean I have had the double takes and weird glances before, but nothing to this magnitude.
I was lucky when it came to my family. There are only three people in my family whos' opinion of me matters; my Mom and Dad, and my Grandma. My Grandma loves my tattoos because my first one was family oriented and my second one has deep personal meaning; my Dad doesn't really care, to him my tats are just something that's there; My Mom was the last one to fully accept my ink, she thought my first one was fake for about three days. Since then she has started to like them. I still don't get why people attach a stigma to tattoos.

Get used to it buddy, it aint going anywhere anytimes soon. Just gets a little better, a little at a time. You'll notice little kids are usually really open to it, and curious, alot more than adults. I'll be standing in line someplace and 5 year olds will creep up and stare and smile. Its the always the scared parents that come grab them and tell them not to stare at the scary man. The world is a strange place. Welcome to Jersey. I spent a little time in Cork myself. Nice people there.
