i've been looking for a new position at work lately. i dont really mind what i do, the actual job is cake, but most of the people around me get on my nerves. but i suppose thats gonna happen wherever i go. anyway... i got an email about another job on thursday, i expressed some interrest in it and had to take a typing test for it before they would interview me. so they had me take the test yesterday, i had to type 45 wpm and have only 5% error. first try, 52 wpm and 6% error... son of a bitch. you'd think that would be good enough, but no. so i tried again 47 wpm and 6% error.... fuck. so i had one last try. 46 wpm and 11% error... yeah i dont know. i thought i had the last one in the bag. you type the same text all three times and the third time i made it farther down the page than the first two times, and i knew i was far so i slowed down and made sure everything was right, for at least the last 3rd or 4th of what i typed. so i must have left out a whole sentence somewhere or something to get 11% error.
so i dont know. i guess they are gonna let me know... i think i'll still get an inteview, but we'll see. and the thing is i dont even know if i would take this job if they offered it to me. i tried to find out from HR what kind of advancement opportunities there were after spending the required 6 months in this position, and they couldnt tell me, said i'd have to ask in the interview. so we'll see.
i'll spare you the boring details of what the job actually is, but it basically sounds to me like a combination of my current job and one of my old ones, so i know i could do it easily. the bad part is it wouldnt be an upgrade, its a lateral move... but hopefully i'll have a better chance at an upgrade if i take this position, thats what i want to find out. cuz right now it seems like the only way i can move up is to become a customer service rep, and i will NEVER do that... i will not deal with stupid people on the phone all day.... EVER! thats just not for me.
