They have Boxing Day in the UK too, that's why Canada has it. Back in the Victorian era it was the day that people 1. boxed up the left-overs from Christmas dinner and gave them away to poor people; or 2. opened up the "poor boxes" in churches and distributed the money inside to poor people. Nobody does either of these anymore that I know of. Oh, and I like to refer to it as Wrestling Day.
