Today and yesterday I've been doing another seminar. This one is about how a (well known) started her business. The crazy part of it all, she's only been in business for about 6 years, and she's (as I mentioned) now a well known wedding photographer! (Not the one i'd hire... but then again, the one I'd hire, I'd have to have come in from Australia).
it's really got me thinking about how I want to run my business... What I want to do isn't quite a portrait business and isn't quite a wedding business, but it has a little of each. I want to do vacation portraiture. It's got the "event" like elements of a wedding... but with portraiture. it's going to be capturing a person, (or people) when they're relaxed and have a brief glimpse of freedom.
Seeing how Jasmin started really is making me feel like what I'm looking to do is that much more believable.... maybe i can do this. Maybe I can make it work... I would love to become the 'Caribbean Photographer' and get to travel throughout the Caribbean taking pictures... Who knows, some day, I might extend it from there... But I'm stating with Key West, and hoping I can make that work!!!

Candid photography is growing tremendously these days - you've got a market for yourself, so exploit!
