We had a tripped out session with 3rd Alley tonight... everyone wanted totally different things in the headphone mixes, which is unusual for them. And then they kept having this or that be too loud or too quiet, so for a while, setting up and changing around headphone mixes was all that got done. They also brought a reference CD for their drum sounds which proved to be wildly inappropriate for the style of all but one of the songs they were recording. So we didn't end up as happy as usual with how our sounds came out in the mix. Thankfully, these are rough versions of songs in development for the next album, not final recordings, so when they come back to record them for real, we'll be familiar and use tones that fit the songs.
We have an appointment to get the kitten spayed on Friday. She has to be dropped off early in the morning, of course. We actually could have gotten her in tomorrow, amazingly, but we found a place that mails out vouchers, so the spaying will only cost us $5, and we have to wait the several days for that to arrive. It's more like $60 otherwise, and $60 is $60, and we have plenty of things that $60 can go toward. So we'll wait the few days and get it done Friday.
We had two appointments with electricians to come out today and estimate our outlet/switch job in the makeup room. Neither showed. One called, one didn't, the one that didn't, I called, and they never called back. Apparently it's hard to pay people to do a job sometimes. But, we do need this work done, so I called a few more electricians. Of course most of them want to come in the morning, so we have one at 8am tomorrow, and 9am Wed. We've been staying up late getting work done every night lately, the night owls that we are, but what with the early appointments, we're both well into sleep deprivation and going to be for at least the rest of the week. So nice to have things to look forward to! I guess the good news is, when the electrical is done, and the kitten is spayed, that's two important tasks accomplished. And then we can move on to getting the promotional materials created that we've been talking about since I came out here, and getting out to open mics again to get them distributed, and maybe recording some of our own music, imagine that!
In between and during tasks the last week or so, we also watched the movies "Saw" and "The Fog." Saw was interesting and creepy and gruesome, but had so many plot holes that a great concept got ruined in the end. Reading a bunch of reviews, the sequel seemed to be reviewed pretty much the same way as the original, so we're probably not going to watch it. As for "The Fog," it was just terrible. Entertaining, but made very little sense. We spent most of the movie hoping for the awful characters to get killed, and then having no clue why some of them made it through in the end! We gotta see some better movies!
