Yesterday I stayed home from work (at the offer of my mom), and rested. Today I was working for Mom, in trade for her covering my Tuesday shift so I could go to the studio. I got back and she was housecleaning and in a crappy mood. No fun. I know my rooms are pretty trashed, but I still hate getting the "I'm not going to live with the house like this any longer" speech and what is basically the order to clean it up immediately. I had another project I really had wanted to work on tonight, but... I cleaned instead. The computer room here is not really "done," but it's approaching tolerable. I have one more corner to tackle, which I think I have made enough difference that I can safely leave that for tomorrow. Not like I'm going to want to do it tomorrow any more than I wanted to do any of it tonight, but obviously it's going to have to be finished, and I'm brain-numbed from cleaning for most of 5 hours already, and I'm just not doing the rest right now. My resistance to doing any more right now is just slightly higher than my dislike of leaving a task unfinished and my knowledge that I really won't want to do it tomorrow. That's just all there is to it. And that's just this room... I can probably get away with my bedroom staying messy because I don't share that space with anyone. But the bathroom is going to have to be done too. I don't think that will take nearly as long, or I sure hope not, seeing as it's just a bathroom, not a decent-sized room with a TON of stuff packed into it, like this room. I'm sure it'll take longer than I think it should, cause that's just the way chores and studio sessions work! But... that's going to be a chore for a different day. Probably a not-too-distant day, but a different day nonetheless.
I'm glad I'm off the next two days. I just do NOT want to spend the entirety of them cleaning.
So, that's my whiny rant about cleaning up my rooms. I let it go undone way too long, I'm paying for it now, it has to be done, but the fact is, I don't like cleaning my rooms whether they're a little messy or very messy!
Interestingly I'm totally different when it comes to keeping my workplace clean, or cleaning up in the studio (the various ones I've worked at) or even helping other people clean up their places. I mean, it still isn't "fun," but for some reason it's not the kind of chore I just resist and resist and hate and hate like I do with my own rooms. Just one of my quirks, I guess.
I'm considering the rest of the "evening" to be my own time to do something I want to do... which may be nothing more than zone out at this point, but maybe I'll be able to get a little of the work done that I was originally planning for tonight. That'd be good.
