So if I'm going to go to this open mic on Tuesday, I want to perform, not just observe.
So that means I need a song to do.
I'd rather do one of my own than a cover. Unless some song came to mind that really symbolized my life right now, but I'm not thinking of any in particular.
Yet thinking through my songs, I'm...

My mom and I went to the fashion show tonight, and we both really enjoyed it. There were clothes by four different designers there, although the only ones I actually know anything about are the ones who invited us. They are:
Grae Clothing.
The site doesn't show that much, and I thought that the clothes of theirs that they showed tonight were better than...

Did something this morning that I rarely do: After my alarm went off, I reset it and went back to sleep for another 15 minutes that felt like 15 seconds.
I'm feeling decently rested this morning, it's just that I had this decidedly unpleasant dream that I'll write out later. Not a nightmare in the traditional "horror" or scary or being chased sense, not involving...

Yikes. I hate dreams like that. I'd rather have those unrealistic, nightmare type dreams that you can shake off and then just move on with the day. Hope it fades for ya.
wynnesome:
Thanks... it's pretty much receded now. I can understand why I had a dream like that... there were elements of things I'm insecure about in it. But it wasn't a very nice thing to "experience" even though I got to wake up and have it not "really" have happened.
The traditional nightmares, I used to have a lot and I got to where I would yell myself awake just in time before the "bad thing" could get me!
Anyway... may there be sweeter dreams all around.

Ok, ok. Got caught in one of those loops between "save" and "edit" the entry, where it decided to post twice. But it doesn't seem to want to delete the duplicate without deleting them both, so, what was the duplicate post, is now this story of how it all happened. Isn't that worth journaling about?

Finally going back and checking out Chad Michael Ward's web site and work in more depth. He's obviously extremely talented with a strongly developed style. His photographs appeal to me more on the level of dark fascination with their grotesquerie than from a quality of "beauty." Have to stare at a couple of them, thinking to myself, "that's... horrible..." Very powerful. Some of them remind...

Class tonight was cool. Part classroom info, and then we did a little bit of shooting. Maybe 40 rounds total, but in directed exercises. First sets of five shots at a blank sheet of paper with no target markings. Then shooting at a target that was only a two-inch orange square marked on the paper, no scoring rings around the "bullsye."
I shot the rented...

Ok, I was going to update about something else completely, but I see this headline above: "Politics News: Bush Actually Fucking Takes Responsibility."
I know what the article is really about, but my mind decided it ought to be something else entirely, and wanted to punctuate it this way:
"Bush: Actually, Fucking Takes Responsibility."
I suppose it would be lots funnier if Clinton had said...

I love the Cute Parrot.
wynnesome:
Well, thank you! I presume you mean my bird Henry, not my avatar, which is also a little parrot-like but is meant to be a raven...?
Henry's a real character. Has quite a vocabulary and he's very expressive, verbally and nonverbally.
Do you have birds?

Business was really slow, so I got to spend a lot of the day at work today doing some writing about some stuff on my mind. I hadn't had a good, in-depth talk with myself in a bit, and I dug in and told myself/made myself more consciously aware of a lot of things I'm thinking and feeling that were more at the back of...

Sure, hey. Why'm I here if not going to give talking with people a try, right?
This class is apparently the certification you need to get a concealed-carry permit. As for just owning a gun, at least here, if you're ok on the background check (no criminal record...), there's not even a waiting period to buy a gun. As for owning one though, which I may end up doing, to me that's all the more reason to want to know how to be safe with it, maintain it, etc.
Anyway, this class I'm taking is called "Basic Pistol and Personal Defense," and it's a standard NRA course, so I guess if you're interested, you could contact a firing range or NRA chapter, and go for it.
pallyn:
Thanks for the tip - I may just do that. The only reason I'd really consider actually taking ownership of this firearm is because he regards it as an heirloom. I think the same rules apply in NJ - a permit is $20 and all you need is a clean record. I'm pretty sure I'm 2/2 in that regard. I suppose it would be beneficial to know how to handle it if it'll be in my house, though.

I got to go shooting today after all...
My mom came with, brought some paperwork to do while I shot. She actually tried it, just shot 20 rounds, for her first time. I walked her through loading and firing. Funny, I always end up teaching skills to someone else, even when I only know the most basic of beginning skills myself. It's cool though. She...

never shot a gun before or even thought about it... i tell a lie, wouldn't mind clay pidgeon shooting.

the last band i recorded was a blues band i think. it was good because they had a double bass and a sax (never miked them up before)
this was using the universities studio. i wasn't a fan of the set up.
mainly been doing live work. me and a mate ran the rig in the students union. we had some good up-and-coming bands in, it was great fun.
helping out at a local venue when i'm not in work (which isn't very often)
just need to do voluntary work with PA companies but gotta earn some money too. catch 22!
wynnesome:
Target shooting is what I'm about it for, for now... I'm not a hunter at all.

Ah, strings and horns. Fun to record and mix. Not to mention fun to arrange for!

Live work is what I've done less of. Some, and some audio-for-video. Mostly studio recording and mixing though.

Good luck getting more experience and good bands to record!

Definitely feels odd to have my day started so early!

So my appointment this morning went very well, insofar as the things I can know for sure.
Now I can only hope for the best desired outcome...
I should hear back within a week, I was told.

I'm going to try not to think about it too much, but I'm going to be hoping hard,...

Back from the gym.

1. My right arm is noticeably weaker than my left, which is saying something, because they are both pitifully, pitifully weak. But, I'm working out again, so as long as I keep that up, this can only get better, right?

2. My hair is just the right length to very irritatingly hang right in my eye when I run. Tonight I...

Oh yeah... in that last long "events of the day" post, I forgot to mention... I actually picked up my acoustic guitar and played for a little while tonight. Nothing special, but kind of a nice enough little minor-ish chord progression with a cool strum pattern and a couple of variations. I doubt it's something that I'll keep to write a song out of, but...
