had a prettyy fuckin' cool weekend this week. for those of you that read comics, you already know what free comic book day is, but for those of you that don't, it's exactly what it sounds like. it's a day where comic book stores across the country hand out free comic books to tryand get people into comics, fucking genius! any how, it was saturday, so if you didn't know it's fucking over. now that i've laid out the ground work, my wife is a manager at one of the biggest comic book stores in the nation, so when free comic book day comes around the owner makes a big deal of it.
instead of just handing out free books, he flys in a hanful of profesionals to do signings in his four stores. this year one of my favorite artists, darrick robertson was on the bill. darrick has worked on "wolverine" and helped to create one of the greatest books of all time, "transmetropolitan", which is loosely based on dr. hunter s. thompson.
moving on, darrick and this guy josh howard, who does a book called "dead at 17", were the only ones to come into town on friday. so someone had to entertain them, the owner got sick and couldn't do it, so he asked my wife to do it.
i had to work , but i got off early and met them out at the bars. we hung out had some beers and went to a topless bar. it was un-fucking-real, not only did i hang out with one of my all time favorite comic book artists, i got to see half naked women to boot.
